Daxxify (you can call it Daxxi for short!) is the newest product from Revance, makers of The RHA Collection of fillers. If you have severe to moderate frown lines, you might want to know that Daxxify has been approved by the FDA for use in treating frown lines with results lasting up to six, and sometimes nine – or more – months.
You’re probably wondering how Daxxify compares to tried and true neuromodulators, like Botox. Maybe you have questions about whether it really works and how safe it is. Daxxify is the first innovation in neuromodulators in 30 years, and Midwest Dermatology is proudly one of the first practices in the area to offer this exciting new treatment. Daxxi works similarly to other neurotoxins (that’s another name for neuromodulators), but it’s also different in many ways. Let’s dive deeper into this new anti-wrinkle treatment so you can determine if it’s the right fit for you.
Safe and Effective When Injected By Experts
Daxxify was put through the ringer before being introduced. In a significant clinical trial of more than 2,700 patients, the line smoothing effects of Daxxify lasted an average of six months in half of the patients tested. Some still had smoother skin and fewer wrinkles after nine months. That’s twice as long as Botox and Dysport. This addresses the only complaint patients have about their other treatments. Daxxify patients will only need to see their doctor once, or maybe twice a year.
Daxxify is as safe as other botulinum toxins. It works by temporarily freezing affected facial muscles to prevent repetitive movements in areas that could cause the deepening of unwanted worry lines. Daxxify is most often used for treatment of glabellar lines, or the vertical lines that appear between eyebrows.
Like Dysport, new Daxxify take effect almost immediately, with onset of just 24 hours, compared to three to five days for BOTOX® Cosmetic. But which one lasts longer? New Daxxify has been reported in clinical trials to last at least six months, sometimes nine months. The answer is that they all perform well. But while Botox and Dysport last about three months, patients who choose Daxxify can go about their business for six or more months between treatments. And when treatments last longer, patients save money by prolonging the time needed for maintenance treatments.
The great news is that you can schedule a treatment for any one of these treatments if the other is not effective or stops working as effectively over time. It is not uncommon for patients to switch between the neuromodulators.
