WHAT IS ELLACOR®?

Ellacor® is one of the first devices to deliver smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin without surgery and without scarring. This minimally invasive treatment uses Micro-Coring™, a fractional tissue extraction process, to treat age-related skin laxity, meaning wrinkles and loose, sagging skin (jowls) in the mid-to-lower face, neck, and other body parts.

The device removes between six thousand and twelve thousand tiny “microcores” of excess skin with fine, hollow needles. As much as eight percent of the skin’s volume is removed during each session, so it is noticeably smoother and tighter as it heals.

After the treatment, the body’s natural healing response encourages the skin to realign and close the microcores quickly.

WHO IS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR A MICRO-CORING PROCEDURE?

An Ellacor Micro-Coring procedure is a great option for adults who have visible signs of facial aging and are seeking an improvement in skin laxity.

Ellacor is approved for Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV, which means it may not be a good option for patients with darker skin tones. Ellacor should not be performed on people who have medical conditions that would inhibit proper wound healing and women who are pregnant.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM AN ELLACOR MICRO-CORING PROCEDURE:

On the day of treatment, you will receive local anesthesia injections into the treatment area after application of topical numbing cream to help you stay comfortable during the procedure. One your skin is numb, your physician will strategically place the ellacor device to your skin to create micro-cores in a grid like patter. When a core is made, the device provides suction that removes micro-cores of the skin through the needles. Like the FX laser treatment, ellacor leaves a bridge of normal skin between the micro-cores, allowing skin contraction and creating a lifting effect. The remaining skin also helps the micro-cores heal more quickly, so no stitches or bandages are required.

WHAT IS ELLACOR® RECOVERY LIKE?

In the pivotal clinical trial, 70% of ellacor® patients were comfortable going out in public or returning to work three days after treatment.

While Ellacor® requires no downtime and minimal recovery, refrain from the following until your skin has fully healed after 5-7 days:

Shaving or waxing
Make-up and skin care products
Scrubbing, scratching, or picking at the treated area(s)
Any activity that could cause injury to the treated site such as contact sports
Submerging the treated site
Activities that result in overheating such as hot baths or spas
Excessive exercise
Sleeping on your face
