Justin G. Madson, MD, PhD

Justin G. Madson is a board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon who sees patients at Midwest Dermatology’s Bellevue, Papillion, and Norfolk locations.

Dr. Madson’s practice focuses on skin cancer diagnosis and treatment and comprehensive general dermatology. He is dual board certified by the American Board of Dermatology in Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery, reflecting advanced training in both the medical and surgical management of skin disease.

Dr. Madson earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and completed a master’s degree in biology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He went on to earn both his medical degree and a doctorate in molecular studies from Creighton University, followed by dermatology residency training at the Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. His scientific background supports a careful, methodical approach to diagnosis — particularly when skin findings are subtle, complex, or evolving.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Madson plays an important role in skin cancer surveillance within Midwest Dermatology. He oversees and interprets FotoFinder total-body imaging studies at the Papillion location, reviewing images and documenting findings that are shared with referring providers across the practice. This collaborative process supports early detection and consistent monitoring of skin changes over time.

Dr. Madson performs Mohs micrographic surgery at the Bellevue and Norfolk offices, where on-site pathology allows for real-time tissue evaluation during treatment. This integrated setup supports precise surgical care and continuity for patients undergoing skin cancer treatment.

Patients often describe visits with Dr. Madson as straightforward and reassuring. He takes time to explain what he’s seeing, why it matters, and what the next steps are — without rushing or overcomplicating the discussion. His communication style is direct and honest, and patients appreciate that complex diagnoses are translated into plain, understandable language. Many leave appointments feeling informed, comfortable, and clear about their care plan.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Madson volunteers with Camp Discovery, a week-long summer camp for children with chronic skin conditions. During camp, children are able to take part in activities like swimming, fishing, and outdoor games in an environment designed around their medical needs, with dermatologists and nurses on site for support. Dr. Madson values the opportunity to care for patients in a setting focused on confidence, independence, and quality of life — a perspective that carries into his approach to dermatologic care year-round.

One patient shared:

“Everyone was pleasant, but Dr. Madson was downright delightful.”
