Meet Ashley D. Dewey DNP FNP-C: Our Newest Provider Offers Skilled and Compassionate Care in Norfolk

We’re excited to announce that Ashley D. Dewey, DNP, FNP-C is joining Midwest Dermatology—Norfolk! Beginning in July, Ashley will be in the clinic, working closely with our board-certified dermatologists to expand her dermatology expertise and deliver the high-quality care our patients know and trust.

A Personal Path to Dermatology

Ashley’s interest in dermatology began with a personal story. As a child, she accompanied her grandmother to skin cancer appointments, and later, she faced her own skin concerns like acne and mole removals. Those early experiences gave her a deep appreciation for how skin health impacts both physical health and confidence.

Now, she’s excited to help others feel their best—whether that means preventing skin cancer, managing acne, or exploring cosmetic dermatology options.

From Nurse to Nurse Practitioner

Ashley earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Wayne State College, then completed the accelerated nursing program at UNMC. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at UNMC and began her career in rural healthcare, gaining hands-on experience in emergency care, labor and delivery, and general nursing.

Her connection to Midwest Dermatology runs deep—she previously worked at our Norfolk clinic as a nurse. Now, she’s back in a new role as a nurse practitioner, with a renewed commitment to exceptional dermatologic care.

Focused on Learning, Committed to Excellence

In July, Ashley will begin an intensive training period with our physicians, observing patient care and learning each provider’s approach. This ensures that when she begins seeing her own patients, she’ll be fully prepared to offer top-tier medical and cosmetic dermatology services.

Her interests include skin cancer screenings, acne treatment, and cosmetic dermatology, and she’s currently pursuing her Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner (DCNP) credential to further deepen her specialty knowledge.

Meet Ashley Outside the Clinic

When she’s not in the office, Ashley’s life is just as full. She lives on her family farm—remodeled from her grandparents’ home—with her husband and four children. Her weekends often involve farm chores, outdoor play, boating on the Missouri River, or running.  And she would not be caught without a good SPF—all day, every day.

She’s a proud 4-H alum who once showed horses and cats, and these days, she’s usually accompanied by Hank, her 100-pound lab/golden retriever mix.

Coming Soon: Appointments with Ashley

Patients will start seeing Ashley around the clinic in July as she begins her training period. Once she is fully trained and ready to launch her own practice, we’ll share an official announcement that her schedule is open for appointments.
